When the client approached Abbacus with his idea of developing a website to sell CDs, DVDs etc., he had a clear vision that he might add on to the category list in future. So our team at Abbacus was involved in the project from its inception, which allowed us to deploy our full research and design methodology.
First of all we started interrogating the client to understand the customer's mental model of the information space. After all the requirements were gathered, we progressed towards defining the project scope with the timelines and cost of the project. The strategic planning was required to cover the scope for the future, as asked by the client.
When the complete scope was clear, our designing team started with the logo design of the website. The logo was sent to the client for the approval. On finalizing the logo, the project entered for site design. Our designers met to decide over the structure of home page and color scheme.
When the project was in the designing phase, an idea of using multi currency on the website struck the client. This posed a challenge to our team at Abbacus, as we again had to move to project definition step and redefine the scope of the project. Without taking much time, our team redefined the scope of the project and we were back with our design.
The development of this kind of project wasn't new for Abbacus, except for the fact that this time we had to develop a system for successfully navigating large number of products. But our development team accomplished this challenge also meeting all the requirements and tight timelines.
Our QA team worked hand in hand with the development team, and tested each module individually and with the integration with other modules too. After the thorough testing the project was deployed on the client's server.
Despite of all the challenges that we faced, we were able to develop a successful website doing the business of 10,000 GBP per month with the multi currency attribute. We wish Mr. Patel of Audiorec luck for his future endeavors.
